Abodo is highly selective about how Abodo Vulcan timber is finished and brought to market. Glacier Millworks is uniquely authorized to finish Vulcan in-house using our own coating systems, a capability that sets our Abodo offering apart.

Our team handles milling, texture and finishing in-house, allowing architects and builders to pair the performance of Abodo Vulcan with the craftsmanship and finish capabilities Glacier Millworks is known for.

Abodo's Vulcan’s clear vertical grain provides enhanced dimensional stability, improved durability and a clean, consistent appearance. It also allows for longer, wider profiles with fewer knots than traditional timber.

Q: Why is Abodo Vulcan treated with heat and steam?

Abodo Vulcan is thermally modified using heat and steam at temperatures up to 446°F (230°C). This process alters the wood at a cellular level, improving durability and dimensional stability while eliminating the need for harsh chemical preservatives.
