The Wood That Built the West
Cedar earned its reputation over generations of barns, fence lines and homesteads that stood through a century of Montana winters. Its heartwood carries natural oils that resist decay and insects, and it takes a finish with a depth few species can match.
At Glacier Millworks, cedar is where the work begins. We hand-select premium-grade Western Red Cedar, then precision mill and finish every piece in Flathead Valley. Every board reflects the craftsmanship, quality and care that define our name.
Why Cedar
- Naturally Durable. Cedar's heartwood contains natural oils that protect it for decades against sun, rain and rot — a defense it builds without any help.
- Stable Through Every Season. Low density keeps cedar true throughout heat, snow and rain, holding clean lines year after year.
- Made for the Finish. The grain runs straight and open, ready to receive stain, brush or flame. Every finish we offer was developed with cedar on the bench.
- A Craftsman's Wood. Light in the hand and honest under the saw, cedar rewards good craftsmanship at every step, from mill to install.
One Species. Three Distinct Characters.
Cedar anchors three of our product lines, offering different stories told through a single, timeless wood.
Strength That Endures
Where Cedar Works
From exterior siding, soffits and fascia to interior ceilings, wall paneling and architectural accents, cedar brings warmth and natural character to residential and commercial projects alike. Each product line is available in Shiplap, Tongue & Groove and S4S profiles, with textures from Glacier Smooth to Rustic Brush. Additional custom profiles are available upon request.
Crafted to Last. Warrantied to Prove It
Our factory-applied PPG ProLuxe® Solid Body exterior finishes carry a 15-year limited finish performance warranty. Every board is finished in-house, by hand, by people who’ve spent years mastering the craft. We stand behind the work.
A Wood That Ages With Grace
Cedar lives. Left to the elements, it weathers toward a soft silver-gray. With periodic care, it holds its original tone for decades. It earns its character honestly, the way real wood should.
Sourced With a Long View
Our cedar comes from responsibly managed forests, chosen to support renewable forestry and a lighter footprint. Good materials matter, and so does where they come from.
